We have all had ‘pushing through’ seasons where we have had to push through and it’s hard!
Things will have got tough for one reason or another. We would have had to keep going, keep believing and staying positive despite what the circumstances were.
Each one of us has had seasons like that.
But each pushing through season is different and usually requires something different of us.
The many different type of pushing through seasons, and the unexpectedness of each, is often why a new challenging season can take us unawares. It feels so different to other times when we have had to push through, so we can feel lost as to how to cope with it.
A great trick we can use to find our best strategies for pushing through any of these seasons is to do this coaching exercise which makes use of a powerful scriptural truth.
And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.
Revelation 12:11
This verse gives us a strategy against whatever the enemy may be throwing at us. It’s a strategy which we often overlook. We may not even think to use it. Imagine the incredible truth that this verse actually tell us; that our testimony can be used to defeat the enemy. That is amazing really!
What is also incredible is that the scripture states this about our testimony in the very same sentence where it reminds us that the ‘blood of the lamb’, (Jesus’ very own sacrifice on the cross), is also a winning strategy to defeat the enemy. Both strategies are mentioned together, and are obviously powerful and are winners!
What I have noticed is that most of us don’t use our testimonies that much in this way. As part of the Destiny Coaching Co-Creative Coaching Model, I have developed tools which help us as Christians to dig deep into our testimonies and mine out the gold.
There is so much in our lifelong testimony, our story of walking through life alongside God, that helps us. Mining our personal testimony helps us find powerful winning strategies in difficult seasons. The power of our testimonies of ‘pushing through’ and how God showed up for us at that time can very much help us overcome whatever we need to in today’s difficulties.
For example, the tenacity that we build, the strength that we exercise , the strategies that we learn, the way we learn to connect to God in these challenging times are part of our testimony. These parts are super helpful for us to remember and apply to anything we are struggling with today.
Let’s go through a quick co-creative coaching exercise, to help you ‘self-coach’ yourself into experiencing how the power of your testimony can help you. This coaching exercise will give you a ‘lift’, a boost, it will give you confidence and practical strategy.
So, think of a challenging situation you have right now.
Christian Coaching
Step 1 – What is your difficult situation?
Write it down in full. Being able to focus in on what the problem actually is, is very helpful. Even this simple step brings clarity and revelation.
Step 2 – Remember a previous difficult situation
Think of a situation that you have had in the past (unrelated to the above) that you have overcome, that was really hard for you?
Step 3 – How did you overcome this?
Think through the process in detail, the timeline. What happened? How did you feel? What were your fears? What were the deepest challenges? What were all the feelings you had? How did you overcome these? What did you overcome? What did God do? How did He show up for you? How did you experience Him with you? What do you now know about God because of this? What do you now know about you and how you overcome? What strategies do you have from your overcoming testimony that you can now remember?
Step 4 – Apply what you know
Now think through what happened then and apply what you know from then, to the difficult situation you face today. What do you know works? What strategy that you used successfully then can you apply now? What do you know about who God is that you can rely on this time?

Destiny Coaching
Each step of this exercise needs time and space. It is well worth writing each answer down and giving yourself as much space as you need to answer the questions in each step.
What it should do for you is encourage you, bring confidence in both your own pushing through ability and God’s faithfulness to you personally in your life.
Do let us know what happens to you, your testimony of overcoming again will bless us all! Don’t forget there is power in your testimony!
