Jesus was a leader that empowered. As Christians we need to be empowered, truly empowered, which means being given permission and trusted to go and do.
Coaching empowers in a way that is unique, exhilarating and freeing. It empowers in the way that Jesus did, giving people permission to go and believing in them that they can do mighty things!
Many Christians wait to feel ‘ready’ and ‘worthy’ to step into an idea. Sometimes they wait years and years. And yet in our experience of coaching many thousands of Christians, we find that whatever God has put on our hearts, the process to be able activate these things is short and simple.
Most times, we learn as we ‘do’. We receive the anointing as we go. Jesus showed us this. He sent the man He cast many demons out of back to his town to evangelise straight away. This was after just one meeting with him. He did not need to be trained for years, or to even spend more time in Jesus’ company. Jesus deemed him ready! This man went off to impact ten towns in an incredible way. (Mark 5). Jesus also allowed the Samaritan woman at the well, to go and tell her village about him after one conversation. The history books tell us that she impacted her region in an incredible way, bringing revival through the gospel of Jesus.
Jesus trusted people and believed in them. He trusted his disciples, who were most probably teenagers or not much older, to do as He did, sending them out without supervision in pairs (Mark 6 & Luke 9). They were not perfect, but they learned, and they saw many miracles.
Finally, Jesus expressed immense belief in us, by leaving us to be filled with his spirit and do greater things than he himself did (John 14:12).
What are we waiting for?
Destiny Coaching empowers people to get activated. It gives permission to start, through expressing belief and trust in a person. It provides a process to create vision and plans. Sometimes what we need to get activated is a simple coaching conversation, which asks powerful questions and gives us space to find and express what is deep within our hearts where God has planted so much. Sometimes having a coaching process to hold us accountable for actions is the difference between staying stuck or getting activated. Many times, we do not need more teaching or training. Many times, our training comes from learning as we go and getting hands-on practical experience.
The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out. (Proverbs 20:5)
Coaching is needed by many Christians. As Christians we also need to learn the skill of coaching others so we become an empowering leader like Jesus. First we receive then we give.
The coaching skills of drawing out the greatness that God has put inside each and every one of us, are priceless. All the stages from identifying and drawing out passion, help with clarifying purpose, coaching into maturity of identity and coaching into sensible goals and actions, are invaluable for the Body of Christ. It follows Jesus’ incredible example of trusting people and activating them into their assignments.
