3 keys to cultivate an environment for lasting transformation.

Sometimes we long for things to change in our lives but we look outwards towards circumstances instead of inwards at how we can change.

It’s the inward journey which brings the changes we truly desire. Circumstances don’t often change by themselves, but we can change ourselves which brings lasting transformation.

Someone once said that, doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. Ha! Have you heard that one before?

Good coaching takes us on that inward journey in a very encouraging way. It brings positive change and lasting transformation.

Coaching takes the time to explore mindsets, limiting beliefs, blind spots, and different perspectives.

Co-Creative Coaching opens an expansive space for you to explore different paths creatively, whilst listening to God and inviting His input along the way.

What type of transformation would you love to see?

Transformation needs a certain environment to be made possible, a bit like plants need certain nutrients to make them grow.

So here are 3 keys you can use to cultivate an environment where lasting, positive transformation will happen in your life:

Step 1 – Cultivating Desire and Passion

A surprising number of people speak the speak about changes they would like to see in the world and their own lives, but they are not really ready for change. They are not really ready to walk the walk. The gap in between is a lack of passion.

There is a big difference between, thinking ‘yeah, I’d quite like……..’ and ‘I long for transformation and change in…..’. . The difference is the level of desire, the level of passion.

Our level of desire directly affects our behaviour. Unless we feel strongly about the transformation we desire, it’s unlikely to happen. At Destiny Coaching we unashamedly use the word ‘passion’. Unless you feel passionate about something, you are unlikely to stretch into your full potential to bring it about.

Everyone is passionate about something. Even if you think you are not, you are. Accessing this passion, what God has planted deep in your heart, the things that really matter to you, what you can confidently say, ‘yes I am passionate about that’, is a key first step towards experiencing transformation.

Ask yourself; what really matters to me? Meditate on this. Write down what is really important to you. (A Co-Creative Coach can help you draw this out using many tools and techniques which help you find your passion).

Think about how you can find and cultivate your passion and keep it alive.

Step 2 – Openness of Mind

Secondly, we must work on having an openness of mind for our passion. We won’t see transformation if we have fixed ideas on the process of how it should happen, the way the end result must look or the timing. Being open to what God will do, how He will do it, what it will look like, and when it will happen, helps it to happen. Even when we think we are open, sometimes we’re not.

We may be resisting a particular area which is the very route that God has provided for us to change, grow, and transform.

It’s not always easy. Some people tend to think if it’s not easy then it can’t be God, which means they miss opportunities that God has put in their life, which need to be fought for.

Contrary to this, it’s not always difficult. Others feel that they need to suffer, and it needs to be difficult, and they make decisions towards opportunities that are not best suited to them because of this underlying belief.

The answer is being in tune with our heart’s desires and God’s plans and season for us.

Ask yourself, what mindsets could I have that are limiting me?

How open am I to the process towards transformation?

How open am I to the way the end result looks?

Step 3 – Faith and Courage

Most Christians understand that they need faith. Faith is a vital component to everything. Even Jesus couldn’t do miracles in His hometown of Nazareth because of the lack of faith in Him. If Jesus needs an environment where there is faith, it must be important! Understanding what faith looks can be complex. It is not always waiting to see what happens. Many times, we are the ones that need to step out in faith.

This is where courage plays a huge role. So many of us, find an incredible vision for what we would love to transform, but we simply just wait on it all happening or we never find the courage to initiate it. Courage is so key.

We need confidence and courage to be transformed and to transform the world. The good news is we can coach others and ourselves to have more courage. Each and every person’s courage looks different. We just need to find our personal courage and learn how to hold onto it.

Remembering times in our lives when we used it helps. Unpacking times when we showed courage and meditating on what it looked like and how we applied it, helps us both find and grow our courage.

We can build on our very own testimonies of courage by remembering how God showed up for us then. When I coach people through this, the results are more or less instant! The inspiration and encouragement of remembering our testimonies never fails.

When coaching people through this I see them inspired to think totally differently about what beforehand felt scary. They find strategies to conquer the fear and push through to some incredibly bold and courageous actions.

Ask yourself, how much faith do I have that transformation is going to happen in my life? (If you have a lot of faith, you will be pursing it. Faith is indicated by action)

Faith in action means that you have a plan for this season and for the mid and long term.

Obviously, we make plans, but remain completely open to Holy Spirit guiding our plans. They may well change, but we do have a plan, and we are pursuing it!

Every single one of us has in our hearts, something God has given us to transform in this world. What is your desire for transformation?
