Every person has the capacity to change the world.
God created us in His image.
He is creative.
He is good
He loves the world and sent Jesus to save the world and bring his kingdom here.
One of the biggest silent wars robbing the world of its best champions, is the war that questions our very identity.
It’s a war that has existed for at least 2000 years. Jesus himself was questioned around his very identity. ‘If you are the son of God’ (Matt 4:6).
Who we believe we are affects pretty much everything, eg:
- Our decisions
- Our sense of purpose
- What we feel capable of
- What we allow ourselves to dream of
- The amount of hope over our lives
- How much joy we carry
- Which relationships we feel confident of pursuing
Coaching is a powerful tool used in industry, in leadership and now increasingly in church to help empower people to believe in their greater potential. The bible speaks of the gift of coaching in many ways eg:
Proverbs 20:5
The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.
‘Coaching identity’ is a vital part of coaching, as no one can fulfil their full potential until they really understand and are connected to their true God-given identity, seeing themselves the way heaven does.
Part of Destiny Coaching’s unique 5 step process which activates people into the fullness of their purpose, is to coach identity.
Here are some of the key ways we enjoy doing this:
Coaching encounters with key identity related scriptures
The Bible tells us a lot about our identity. For example it tells us, we are sons and daughters of God (2 Cor 6:18), we are royal (1 Peter 2:9), we are precious (Matt 10:29), ‘masterpieces’ (Eph 2:10), friends of God (John 15:15), wonderfully complex (Psalm 139:13-14), designed to rule and reign (Rev 20:4-6). We can self-coach ourselves to experience some of these truths about our identity by meditating on one of these scriptures and asking questions about what it means, how it makes us feel, where God is in it.
Coaching to hear God directly and personally speaking affirmations on how He sees you
As well as using a scripture from the above list to meditate on we can invite The Lord to reveal new revelation about our true heavenly identity. Simple but powerful questions such as: ‘What type of daughter or what type of son do you see me as?’ unlock new revelations about how God feels about us. The Bible says God has as many thoughts about you as there are grains of sand on all the sea shores in the world (Psalm 139:18). Don’t you want to know about some of those thoughts?
Coaching discovery around a structure of four life purpose elements
Our identity is not what we do. It is bigger than that. For example an apple tree is still an apple tree whether it produces apples or not. However, looking at our purpose from a perspective of what we do, how we contribute, what the outworking of our unique gifts and strengths are and will be, what messages have been formed in us to give to the world, helps us understand more about our identity. After all royals, princes and princesses, do something with their status, as should we as sons and daughters of our heavenly king. Our character is easier to spot when we are activated into our unique assignments too.
Coaching you to experience your impact when you are fully living in your identity – past, present and future
When we are fully who we were created to be, is when we have the biggest impact. Looking at those times when you had a big impact helps to you to work backwards to look at who you were being in those times. Asking God to reveal more, brings more clarity of identity from a heavenly perspective. The same is true when we look at the present. It is also incredible to project yourself into the future and have someone coach you to see who you are being when you are fully living out your purpose.
Experiencing more of your identity through coaching identity tools quite literally can change the trajectory of your life.
We have seen this time and time again.
As truth is revealed and encountered, the obstacles stopping you to fully live from who you were created to be fall away.
God is very active in this process of coaching, because it helps to unlock what Jesus died for.
Becoming the great person, you were created to be and helping others to also, is not only possible but an invitation to one of the greatest adventures of your life!
And, you are never too old or too young to start!
We wish you further activation into all that God has for you!
