The presence of God changes everything. Do you agree?
This is something I have learned to be true, time and time again, in life and in coaching sessions!
I teach my students that bringing God into a coaching session is the ultimate ‘cheat’ 😆
Not only does experiencing His presence and wisdom bring something new, profound and unexpected every time, but, it also accelerates a breakthrough to breakneck speed! Things happen in minutes that may have taken weeks, months or even years!
God is good.
There are multiple levels of experiencing this in coaching. The lessons learned here point to how we can experience much more of it in our lives!
(Many Christian coaches satisfy themselves at operating at just Level 1 or 2 as stated below. But there is more!)
Level 1 – Be intentional about knowing that God is present and trust that His presence is with us.
Whether you are a Christian coach or being coached, or just living your life, you can intentionally allow your mind to imagine and know that He is present. Whether you are in a specifically Christian environment or anywhere, you can do this. It shifts something. Your attitude will change and His presence will be more manifest!
Level 2 – Verbally inviting God to take part.
When coaching and you’re both Christians, if agreed, you can invite God to be in the session and to guide it. Obviously we can do this in general life too, as a spoken prayer. (It comes with a promise – ‘Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your paths’ – Proverbs 3:6). Speaking out this invitation is powerful as our words have power and giving God a verbal invitation is even more powerful than doing it quietly.
Level 3 – Include God throughout by asking Him specific questions.
Coaching led, coaching style open questions, directly asking God for His input on the matter at hand, are very powerful. These questions open up our ears to hear Him in such specific and useful ways. In Co-Creative Coaching when coaching Christians, if mutually agreed, we do this frequently at many points during the coaching process. (As I said, the ultimate ‘cheat’. But actually an incredible way that we can live our lives, gaining The Lord’s input).
Level 4 – Lead a ‘Spirit-led’ Co-creative Coaching encounter.
Something we train our coaches to do, is to lead people to experience God and the spiritual realm through an encounter style coaching session. During this, people see pictures and sense new things. They encounter the wisdom of God in whatever way His chooses to show them personally. This opens up so much in the spiritual realm and connects people to God in a truly deep way. Staying in a space of ‘encounter’ like this connects us to the presence of God deeply and in a strong way. A lot happens in this space!
Anyone can experience all these four ways of tuning into the presence of God and accessing the spiritual realm.
A foundational principle in the Co-Creative Transformational Coaching Model is to operate in all of these ways as normal! This is what gives this coaching more power and scope than standard approaches.
People receiving this type of coaching, learn how to include God in new ways in everyday situations, in complex areas, in work, in relationships or any area they wish to progress in.
Co-Creative coaches are trained to ask powerful questions which unlock potential and unlock different thinking, whilst also leading a someone to ask powerful questions of God. It’s transformative.
