Ever wondered how you can discern God’s timing more easily?
Maybe you’d like to know when your dreams and vision to will come into being?
Maybe you wonder; ‘When is it is the right time to move on?’ or ‘When should I leave my job?’.
Perhaps you ponder; ‘When should I launch?’, or ‘In what order should I prioritise the goals in my life?’
As Christians we like to know what God’s timing is. When things don’t happen for a long time, not for years, we often think; ‘Well it’s not God’s timing yet’, or we may think, ‘It’s not God’s plan.’
Discerning how God’s timing flows, is so helpful and saves us a lot of heartache. Being able to do this is easier than you think.
Once we know God’s timing, we know whether to push through difficulties and setbacks, which are all part of the process, or whether to recognise them as a sign it’s not the right time and to therefore park our efforts.
Imagine being confident, knowing whether setbacks relate to things being in the wrong time, or whether they’re just part of the journey. Imagine knowing whether you need to overcome or back off.
Here is what we DO know! God always has plans and purposes for us. (See Jeremiah 29:11). These plans and purposes have a season. God’s wisdom is perfect, so therefore His timing is perfect also. We can rest assured in this, even if we do not understand His timing and His reasons for delaying things, or bringing them forward sometimes before we feel ready. He always has a perfect plan with perfect timing.
So how can we discern God’s timing?
This is the first of 4 blog articles giving you tips on questions to ask God to help you. The next 3 blog articles will show you some coaching models I use.
So, here are some powerful coaching style questions to ask both God and yourself to gain wisdom for timing:
Ask yourself
What change do I feel ready for?
What change do I not feel ready for, but sense God is encouraging me towards?
What change is not for now, there is no peace around feeling it is for now?
Ask God
God, describe the season have you got me in, from your perspective?
Lord, please give me a metaphor for my current season?
Father, please give me one word which you consider to sum up the theme of the current season you have me in.
God, what are your priorities for this time in my life?
Check out the next 3 blogs which outline different coaching models to help you discern in more depth where you are at and what God’s timing is.
